Unit Project - Dramatic and Visual portrayal of a character
For your Final Project of The Odyssey unit, your task will be to design a Wikispace page which visually and dramatically represents your assigned God/Goddess/character. Below is a list of requirements you will need to have on the page. Once you gather all of your information, click on the link that has your name and get started with your creative interpretation.

Requirements:
1. Top 10 List: Use these worksheets to help you gather facts about your god. Make sure you use websites totally devoted to Greek Mythology, and stay away from ones like Wikipedia, About.com, and the like.

2. Photos: You need a total of FOUR pictures. One should be of your God or Goddess. The other three should be objects, symbols, animals, or people that relate or are connected to your God. SPECIAL NOTE: Because this website can be viewed by anybody, please use caution when selecting your pictures. The pictures should not contain nudity or other inappropriate content. If you question one of your photos, please see me. Copy and save your images into your documents folder. Make sure you also copy the website address of the image for citing purposes. When the photo is placed on your webpage, you will need to include a caption to explain the connection to your God/Goddess.

3. Design: You need a heading (like the one on this page) to introduce your God. Get free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com by clicking here. Look at the right margin to create and insert it on your page.Explain usage of colors and styles for text which represent your character's profile and an explanation of why you used them.

4. Drama: Pick a part of the story where your God/Goddess has influence and rewrite it from his/her point of view. Your God/Goddess watched as Odysseus succeeded, failed, plundered, and killed. Your version and thoughts of what happened may be very different from his. As your God, write a dramatic monolog that focuses on the events you see and the emotions he/she is feeling because of Odysseus' actions. You can write it in 1st person point of view (using I, me, my because you are the God) or 3rd person omniscient (using he, she, them as a narrator who has understanding of your God's thoughts). Your dramatic writing should be at least 25 sentences long for English 9 classes and at least 30 sentences long for Honors 9 (and cover details of The Odyssey, not just retelling the story, but reacting to it). For samples, click on Mrs. Peebles' page below and follow the link to the dramatic writing. You can also click on the link to Miss Swartzlander's page on the right side, then find the OMGods/Odyssey link on the left side of her page. Click on "Drama" and you can read her sample for Ares as well.
The text of the monolog should be linked to your page. Click here to see instructions on creating a new page from your page.

5. Music: Embed a music file that fits the God's profile with written explanation of the choice. Use Garage Band to create at least a minute of music that represents your God/Goddess. Click here to see instructions on how to use Garage Band.

PEER CRITIQUE: Find four people from your class to critique. Click on the name of the person to open the page. Go the DISCUSSION tab on their page. If there is a number higher than 3, choose someone else. If there isn't a number larger than 3, click on the Discussion tab and click on "New Post". In the subject line, type "Critique" and then type your responses to the prompts from the worksheet. You are NOT to assign a grade for their page. Be courteous as you critique their work. Using the worksheet below as a guideline, look at all of the parts of the pages.
